February 27, 2002 FONDA - The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday night to fund a study aimed at looking for ways to save money at the county-run nursing home.
The $24,000 study is to be conducted Montgomery Meadows by Athens-based F.L. Hoffman Corp. The study will be paid for with money from the county's fund balance.
The consultants are to evaluate the operation of the facility. The firm will consider possible space-saving renovations. And consultants will look at possibility of adding to the facility.
Like other county-run nursing homes in the state, Montgomery Meadows is facing the loss of state funding called Intergovernmental Transfer.
The Montgomery County nursing home stands to lose an estimated $900,000 in revenue as a result of the eliminated funding. The funding is being reduced over four years.
The study will also look at services that could be offered at the home to increase income.
The study was approved without discussion among supervisors. Also Tuesday night, the board approved the following:
* The 2002 roads and bridges capital plan, totalling more than $1.7 million. The plan calls for reconstruction of three bridges and several roads.
* The reappointment of Economic Opportunity and Development Director Michael Yevoli to a four-year term in the post. Yevoli is budgeted to be paid $52,000 during the current year.
